London, 14 November 2022.

The largest, credible ethical resale platform in the world, Ticketswap, has today announced its expansion into the UK market, offering British consumers a safe and easy way to get into sold out shows all over the world, for the first time.

The Dutch firm burst onto the scene in 2012 and since then has championed the buying and selling of secondhand tickets for concerts, festivals, sports events, theatres, and day trips, in a safe, secure and simple way.

With last-minute tickets available for over 6,000 events globally, Ticketswap is the industry-accredited way to sell your ticket if you cannot go to an event. Ticketswap caps the resale amount at 20% above face value, protecting buyers from overpricing and fraud is prevented by user-checks and through partnerships and collaborations with event organisers.

A recent report by Lloyds Bank* revealed that ticket fraud is a huge problem in the UK with festival ticket scams having soared 600% this year, compared to Q1 2021. Scammed customers face an average loss of £251 for each reported incident. According to Ticketswap’s own survey of music fans**, an estimated ⅓ of fans in London have been a victim of ticket fraud.

Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, Ticketswap already has 1.5 million registered users in the UK, meaning it can find a buyer almost instantly for your ticket.

Ticketswap's launch into the UK is part of a larger expansion, which has seen the company open offices in Sao Paulo (BR), Stockholm (SE), Berlin (DE), Paris (FR), Madrid (ES), Milan (IT) & Krakow (PO) in 2022 alone, following the company's first investment of $10M (via investor Million Monkeys), raised in order to accelerate international growth.

With the live events industry returning to full capacities, there’s never been a more urgent need for cultural and sports fans to have the flexibility to sell their ticket to another genuine fan if they can no longer attend. We see in today’s world that buying habits are changing so fast - previously buying a ticket was a commitment to attend, whereas now despite the best intentions, life can get in the way. In cities like London, Manchester & Bristol, we see there is so much choice for fans, that sometimes they may even purchase multiple tickets for a single weekend, and decide later as a group of friends or family where they will eventually go. Equally, with so much demand for music artists in 2022, it’s so important that genuine fans still have the opportunity to buy a ticket last minute without getting ripped off. That way, we ensure both artists and fans have the best possible experience together. Hans Ober, CEO at TicketSwap

Ticketswap is the largest, credible ethical resale platform in the world, designed to work with partners to help them eradicate fraud, reach full capacities and target new audiences. Its partner first approach is exemplified through its partnership with flagship music conference ILMC earlier this year, and its recent title sponsorship of sister conference, the International Festival Forum (IFF).

Ticketswap also works with several UK based trade associations across the music industry to ensure its operations respect certain industry regulations, as well as providing data and insight on consumer behaviours. Ticketswap is a member of the self-regulatory body for the entertainment ticketing industry STAR - the Society of Ticket Agents & Retailers - as well as the Association of Electronic Music, Association of Festival Organisers (AFO) & Music Venues Trust.

Ticketswap already works with over 6,000 internationally renowned promoters, venues, festivals and ticketing companies including ID&T Group (Netherlands), Sziget Festival (Hungary), LWE (UK), Bootshaus (Germany), Norbergfestival (Sweden), Entourage and Ingresse (Brazil), to name a few.

To mark its UK launch, Ticketswap has announced exclusive partnerships with the likes of LWE (Junction 2, Cogo, Tobacco Dock) & Brockwell Live (Mighty Hoopla, Cross The Tracks, Wide Awake), with many others in the pipeline.

As someone who’s worked in the live music industry for over 25 years as a promoter, agent and artist manager, I am saddened to learn just how many people I know - and friends of theirs - who have been a victim of ticket fraud. Together with Sharen & Chris, we want to use our experience to help transform the way fans can buy and sell tickets, putting safety and flexibility at the heart of everything we do. There’s no better feeling than picking up a ticket to one of your favorite festivals or artists, and we believe fans should be able to do that for a reasonable price. Michael Robinson, Country Lead, TicketSwap UK

We're delighted to be one of Ticketswap's launch partners for the UK market, helping to bring a safe ticketing experience to over 250,000 live music fans across more than 70 events annually. Fans today demand the flexibility to be able to sell their tickets last minute, and through our collaboration with Ticketswap we can ensure every event we run reaches full capacity, which results in a quality experience for everyone; artists, fans and promoters. Paul Jack, Owner LWE (exclusive promoters at Tobacco Dock)
